Can I change DU settings to ...

It seems when I look at a forum, the threads are listed by ones with the most number of posts,
or the most recent post.

Can I change my DU settings so the threads are listed by the newest thread?

1. I may be misinterpreting your question,

but at the top of every page there are buttons labeled "Latest Threads" and "Greatest Threads." The first one lists new threads as they are entered (newest at top), and the second one lists threads with the most activity.

2. At the top of each forum thread listing there is a 'Start time' link to do just that.

Unfortunately, that link is not visible when viewing the mobile DU layout. But you can add '&sort=time' to the end of a forum's URL to view the threads sorted by start time.

For example...

https://www.democraticunderground.com/​?com=forum&id=1256&sort=time

... gives us this...

https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1256&sort=time


For the forums you frequent the most, I suggest creating the links for sorting by start time and then bookmarking them in your browser. Here they are for the Main forums:
