DU Community Help
Related: About this forumAre DUers having internet problems right now? I'm West Coast-based
Not bad, but some websites are not loading. I'm curious if this is widespread, local, or just me. DU seems to be fine.
Thanks!

(7,715 posts)downdetector.com is showing an issue in Los Angeles, but nothing elsewhere on the West Coast.
I'm going to reset my modem and router to see if that helps.

(7,715 posts)None of us would have immediate access to Colbert, Trevor, SNL, etc without your extreme diligence posting these videos the moment they're publicly available!
Hope you are doing very well!

(221,922 posts)And it happens to be The Daily Show that's unavailable at the moment. First it froze, now it's just a black screen. But everything else seems accessible, so it must be just that individual channel. However, my internet's working fine, so I can still access it when it's uploaded.

(7,715 posts)This caused a lot of major websites (e.g., CNN) to be out. I wonder if it's still ongoing. Not good when we don't have Trevor!

(221,922 posts)The power went out, though not for long. It took the TV much longer to come back - but just checked again and Trevor is finally back. And at least he's repeated later. We have Spectrum here in these parts and it's not an unusual occurrence.

(221,922 posts)Can you tell anyone? Something like this is obviously out of her control and she can't be the only one...

(7,715 posts)It's just that I woke up early to reset the home network/modem/routers to make sure there was no internal problems. And what do I wake up to: good old Xfinity is down!
But, yes, I am sure there are tons of other students similarly affected. And our phone hot spots are working.
Checking stuff out is good, but having redundancies is essential too...It's just tough to be rational at 253 in the morning!

(221,922 posts)But it can't e the first time this has happened in over a year of virtual learning, they must have prepared for it before.

(7,715 posts)for me regarding Xfinity. This NEVER used to happen, but it is now happening more than before. That might be due to so many folks being on the internet at once (but it's 3am here, so I doubt that's the case). It's just that Xfinity doesn't give any notice about these issues via a text etc, and you have to spend 30 minutes just to figure that the problem is not with us, but with the ISP.
I am going to call them up today, and speak my mind. I will probably get a free pay-per-view movie, which is what they give to irate customers to make them go away!
Hopefully this will get cured in the next few hours....am going to try to catch 3 hours of sleep before then!
Goodnight, and hope all is well!

(7,694 posts)no problem here.

(7,715 posts)It appears that the problem has to do with a niche website. The reason I was concerned was that my device was a bit slow to load DU, but i think this is a separate issue.
As always, I appreciate the DU community's rapidfire assistance/help. You're not like family, you ARE family!

(12,597 posts)I did read there were issues w/ cloud sites on the East Coast this morning, but that doesn't seem relevant.
RainCaster
(11,542 posts)That could be part of the problem.

(221,922 posts)Just got a chance to catch up with it now, but he started out by saying there were major internet problems today, that numerous websites crashed and were down for over an hour:
