My Xfinity/Comcast internet is down

I'm accessing the internet via my phone hot spot right now.

Downdetector.com seems to indicate this is a major outage affecting several metropolitan areas throughout the US. I called Xfinity customer service and got a message this is "scheduled maintenance" but we received no prior notice. The recorded message says it is "scheduled" to be fixed at 645am.

My teenager has an online exam this morning, and this is the LAST thing I needed at 120am in the morning!

FYI.

It is highly likely that the school district has protocols in place for service outages that disrupt online learning and exams. It is possible that they too are affected by the outage.

It's an AP exam, as well. I had (in a superabundance of caution) told my daughter that I would reset the home network just to ensure that all the bugs were cleaned out. I do that whenever something major is happening like my hosting a webinar, exams.

I literally woke up at 1230am just to do this and then get back to sleep so that everything would be ready. Instead, I am up at nearly 2 am on DU, typing this out.

Yes, there is most definitely a protocol for this. Worst-case scenario, hopefully, our phones can work as hot spots.

But it does remind me about the old saying about the best-laid plans of mice and persons!
