A box keeps following me around the site. Clicking leads to Electile Dysfunction.

Last edited Sat Jul 22, 2023, 10:32 PM - Edit history (1)

A couple of days ago, I watched a video from Represent.Us on Electile Dysfunction. Very clever. I noticed a rectangular box outline appear there. Clicking within it led to the Represent Us website.

But the box is now on every story and page I visit, and it's very difficult to click anything that doesn't lead me back to the Represent Us website. How do I get rid of it permanently?

BTW, I'm on a MacBook Pro running OSX 13.2.1 using Safari as a web browser.

(Except ones you whitelist out of necessity)

If no luck, you may have malware, so scan for that.

If that doesn't work, try clearing cookies and explicitly block that site.

In Firefox you can "Inspect" the rectangular box with right click menu and find URLs inside it to block. Probably something similar in Safari. Block the high level domain, like "evilwebsite.com", not a specific URL like "https: //evilwebsite.com/folder/directory/junk/something.js".

Try rebooting the computer.
