I was on night mode for the DU beta. On the new site today, Night mode shows dark gray text on a dark gray background, so it's unreadable unless I show Reader. I couldn't read the options to change the mode in Visual Settings, and couldn't see the button to save all settings. Can't see any thread titles or text, just stars and avatars.
Fortunately I saved a link to DU's emergency backup, upload.democraticunderground.com. That works perfectly for some reason, although the menu buttons are different..
I don't see anyone else posting about this, so this is strange. For now I just changed my links to the upload URL so I could use Night mode. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?
I'm on iPadOS 16.7.1 using the Safari app.
on edit: clearing my browser cache fixed it for me. I went to Settings > Safari and clicked on Clear History and Website Data.

(9,199 posts)Exactly what I'm (not) seeing. I'm afraid DU4 is really effed up my experience and is causing me extreme distress in attempting to adjust to the wholesale changes. Less than a day, and after 16 years I am thinking should I just move on to a new community? Seriously.
I've got a chromebook, using chrome browser.

(15,138 posts)Try https://upload.democraticunderground.com . Night mode works there. I think it's an earlier version.

(9,199 posts)I had a good experience with the beta du4, but this finished version is really stressing me out. Threads are loading incredibly slowly or not at all, closed forums/groups, cumbersome and difficult navigation. I like to think I have the patience of a midwife, but I am really stressing during this adaptive period. Gonna stick with it, but I vacillate between wanting to cry and wanting to scream. It's like losing a spouse, if not one of my children.

(15,138 posts)That fixed the display issue in Night mode for me. Good luck.

(9,199 posts)Some pages/parts of pages are good... others are fubar. The link you provided is a good fix for now. I just tell myself, "Patience, Grasshopper... patience". I know they're working out the kinks. The Path is not difficult for one who has no preferences.
