Quirk on DU4 but can not resolve...

When posting on DU4 I no longer have the "Check Spelling" bar available to check spelling before posting a reply.

Samsung phone - Android - Chrome systems.

When I change the cell phone setting to desktop view it now shows and permits the "Check Spelling" mode. But the print on the page in the desktop setting is way expanded and very small print.

When I switch back to cell phone view and off desktop view the "Check Spelling" mode disappears just below the "Reply Text" box.

Is there any way to overcome this issue without switching to desktop mode but remain in cell phone viewing mode like I was able to do prior to DU4 - but the "Check Spelling" feature remained avaiable and operational ?

Thank you in advance for helping me understand and sort out this issue so the "Check Spelling" function returns as before the DU4 tweak.

The old DU spell checker is an ancient piece of code, which is one of the only pieces of third-party code left over from very early versions of DU. When we were creating the DU4 post pages, we were able to get it working on desktop versions of the site but we simply could not get it to behave on mobile. We would have needed to do significant re-writing of code that we didn't write in the first place, in a language that neither of use are experts in.

So we decided that since modern smartphones all have spell checkers built in, we would just leave the old DU spell checker out of the mobile version. I'm sorry about that, but hopefully it makes sense to know that there's a reason behind it and it's not just an oversight.

I'm using Skinner mode on my desktop computer which condemns me to Skinner mode on my phone, an iPhone6. On the desktop I have: Check spelling: [Show errors]
Posting tips: [Show tips]
[Preview] [Post]

Onthe iPhone I have Posting tips Preview and Post but no spellcheck at all, and it's not off the display, it just isn't there at all.

And EarlGs answer above explains why I don't have the spellcheck.

Something I must work around.

Can't wait till I get home and see how my tablet responds to this "Check Spelling" issue.
