I work on an IPad, and since changing to DU4 “Skinner Mode,” all the avatars have disappeared, on every screen. Is there a way to see them again?

1. Do you typically hold the iPad vertically or horizontally?

If vertically, the iPad will show the mobile version of the site, which does not include avatars. At least, not at the moment. I still have some work to do on the tablet layout.

If horizontally, the iPad should show avatars, and if they’re not showing then it’s a bug of some kind (unless you have them turned off in Account Settings).

2. I always hold the tablet vertically

Just now tried horizontally, and, presto, there they were! TY EarlG.

I always held it vertically before and always saw the avatars that way. I don’t really like holding it horizontally because typing in horizontal mode is clumsy for me. Too spread out.

Are there any plans in the works to make the avatars appear on a vertically-held tablet?

3. It should be doable

Currently the vertical tablet version mimics the mobile version, but because it’s a larger screen there are definitely opportunities to make changes like that in places where it makes sense. I should be able to update the vertical tablet layout so it displays avatars.

5. This should be fixed now

I've adjusted the vertical tablet layout for Skinner Mode so threads should now look more like they do on desktop rather than mobile.

I also noticed that your avatar does not seem to be displaying correctly -- I can see it when I'm replying to you, but it's a broken link when I'm looking at your posts. That seems like a bug, I'll ask Elad to take a look.

Edited: I was looking at our test server, your avatar is fine on the main servers
