If a beneficiary is due additional benefits as a result of the Act, they will receive a one-time payment, deposited into the bank account SSA

Can you access any of your information at the govt login? Are you close enough to an office to ask about it in person?

I had been watching Biden sign it before he left office last year. I was notified that I was eligible and it was automatic.

I wasn’t. It wasn’t especially hard to apply, although it took time, like 2 months, and I did get a retroactive payment. The phone appointment and conversation I had, which took 6 weeks to get, was very helpful.

Lost way more $$ from over the six years than the lump sum they gave me (for just the one year.) I’m not complaining though - my SS has increased by about half of what I was receiving.

Do you get another pension from a state or federal govt job? If so, then this payment is probably a WEP payment.

I need to wait to get an explanation from SS-- they'll send me a letter in the mail. Evidently the last person to sign off on this hasn't yet.

Thanks, all-- I'll update this post once I receive the letter.

I was pleasantly surprised at the process. I had very little hope and wasn’t counting on anything, but applied as a test, really. The system was still holding as of May.
