I can identify with some of what was written.

I think for each survivor the way they handle it is unique to them. They need to do what helps them get through each day.

For some it's talking about it for others not so much.

I've never shared my full story here, only that I am a survivor. I don't know if I ever will.

The article was a good piece of writing. I'm going to read it again.

I also want to acknowledge that the author is a man. Society makes it harder for men to talk about being victims/survivors. I can't imagine how difficult it was for him to talk about. He has my admiration.

I thought it was a woman all the way up until I saw the male reference. From what I've gathered it is very difficult for boys to know it is not their fault because of the signs of arousal that as a female are not physically obvious. If you get my drift. It helps to have someone who understands, listens, and can help you talk it out.

There was a dust up recently where someone had mocked a rape survivor here after she had shared her story. The person was banned. I just don't think anyone needs insult added to the injury.

I've never really talked about it outside of counseling except for my parents and a couple of friends none of my other family or friends know. It was decades ago. I still don't like to even bring it up.

I really admire the brave souls who can and do speak out.
