Celtics Assistant Coach Walter McCarty Faces Larceny Charge
Celtics assistant coach Walter McCarty was in Framingham District Court Thursday morning to face a larceny complaint. The former NBA forward pleaded not guilty to the charge.
McCarty is in his second year as an assistant coach on Brad Stevens’ staff and is also a longtime fan favorite in Boston stemming from the eight seasons he suited up for the Celtics as a player, from 1997-2005.
According to WCVB-TV, McCarty allegedly bounced checks to a contractor that had been building kitchen cabinets in his family’s home. McCarty claims his identity was stolen, which led to the checks bouncing.
McCarty released a statement today through the Celtics to respond to the accusation.
