Raptors fined $25,000 for Drake comments on Kevin Durant
The Toronto Raptors have been fined $25,000 for comments rap star Drake made about NBA MVP Kevin Durant at last weekends OVO Fest that the league has deemed a violation of anti-tampering rules.
Drake, official global ambassador for the Raptors since last September, asked the concert crowd how theyd react if Durant set to become a free agent in 2016 and thought to be coveted by the Raptors were to play for Toronto. The Oklahoma City Thunder all-star was in town for the concert weekend.
A senior NBA executive confirmed an ESPN report that Durant was the target of what the league calls a public recruiting pitch by the rapper.
My brother Kevin Durant was kind enough to come to the show tonight and watch us, Drake told screaming fans. I just want him to see what would happen if he were to come play in Toronto. The fans responded with a thundering K-D! chant.
