Without access to the truth, we cannot have a democracy, says GW law professor - Velshi - MSNBC

Though, many voters’ perceptions didn’t align with the facts. Misinformation spread widely on social media, partly through Elon Musk’s X, which amplified election falsehoods.

Navigating a reality increasingly undermined by falsehoods is a growing concern, says Mary Anne Franks, a law professor at George Washington University. “There are things that we can decide as a country that are too harmful, and undermine democracy,” says Franks. “Without access to the truth, we cannot have a democracy.” - Aired on 11/16/2024.
