A procedural vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to advance President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” is on the verge of failure after four Republican lawmakers opposed the measure late Wednesday night.

Representatives Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Victoria Spartz of Indiana, Keith Self of Texas and Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania cast “no” votes, leaving supporters with 216 votes—one short of the 217 needed to move the legislation forward under the current House roster.

Meanwhile, both Johnson and TFG are working to change Republican no votes. Lawrence O'Donnell said TFG has all their phone numbers. And we can bet he's making offers trying to persuade them and if that doesn't work, there are always threats.

GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick leaves chamber after voting 'no' on rule
Melanie ZanonaMelanie Zanona is a Capitol Hill correspondent for NBC News.

Reporting from Washington

After Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., delivered a surprising “no” vote on the rule, some of his Republican colleagues scrambled to find him on the floor — most likely to try to get him to change his vote.

But Fitzpatrick bolted out of the chamber and could not be found.

When NBC News informed Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., that Fitzpatrick appeared to have run off, Johnson replied: “Smart.”

Johnson then tried to reach Fitzpatrick by phone, but so far he has been unsuccessful.

This is still the procedural vote on the rule. They still haven't been able to pass that, and they can't vote for the actual bill until they pass the rule first.

Massie hasn’t voted yet. The GOP must flip 2.

Of the remaining 9 there clearly are some additional holdouts we did not plan for.

4 Nays and the bill dies.
