(9,029 posts)1. I believe Qatar is pronounced with the accent on the first syllable.
(Which would make sense. Catarrh is something totally different.) But I only learned this recently. I guess very few people know. It isn't exactly a big or powerful nation with lots of influence. Or at least it never has been.
