Let's talk about Trump undermining the right's biggest cause.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump undermining the right's biggest cause.
As tensions continue to mount, Trump and the Republican party are having to deal with breaks in their coalition with some pretty big names reminding the Republican base that Trump's framing of events is completely at odds with their long held positions. Beyond that, it's reminding Trump loyalists that Mr. MAGA actually opposes something they see as the most important of rights.
The Minneapolis police chief said that 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti was a lawful owner and was legally permitted to carry a firearm. However, the Trump administration is citing him being armed as grounds for his killing despite a lot of analysts suggesting he was already disarmed when they fired. And it doesn't help their case that some administration officials are saying they don't know whether he had already been disarmed.
FBI Director Kash Patel said, "No one who wants to be peaceful shows up at a protest with a firearm that is loaded with two full magazines."
US Attorney Bill Essayli said, "If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there's a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you."
The NRA responded by saying, "This sentiment from the first assistant US attorney for the Central District of California is dangerous and wrong. Responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation. not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens.
Gun Owners of America, which for those unfamiliar with this community, is even further to the right than the NRA, made a lengthy statement, too. "We are saddened by the loss of life in Minneapolis, Minnesota earlier today during a federal law enforcement operation. Because details remain limited and facts are still emerging, it is essential that the Justice Department conduct a complete, transparent, and prompt investigation so the public can fully understand what occurred and maintain confidence in the rule of law. Furthermore, we condemn the untoward comments of the US attorney. Federal agents are not highly likely to be legally justified in shooting concealed carry licensees who approach while lawfully carrying a firearm. The second amendment protects Americans rights to bear arms while protesting, a right the federal government must not infringe upon. Finally, the left must stop antagonizing ICE and CBP agents who are taking criminals off the streets and play a crucial role in protecting communities and upholding the rule of law.
If you consider yourself a 2A person, I have two more quotes for you. I like taking the guns early, and Take the guns first, go through due process second. Know who that was? It wasn't AOC or Pelosi, Schumer or Obama who actually expanded the ability to carry. Those two quotes are Trump. He's not one of you. He never was.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
