Related: About this forumLet's talk about what republicans are actually doing... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about what Republicans are actually doing.
Gas is up. Inflation is up. We've got warnings about food supplies, oil supplies. They're looking to drastically increase the debt again. Trump's trade wars are dragging the economy down. His redistricting war is a face plant and his real one spun off the rails. So, we have to ask, what are congressional Republicans doing since they certainly aren't fulfilling their obligation to act as a check on executive power?
Reminder, under the Constitution, the president isn't the boss. He's the errand boy of Congress. Congress makes the laws, the judicial branch interprets the laws, and the president carries out the laws. So, I thought it might be a good idea to look at what laws Republicans in Congress are actually trying to make while you're struggling to pay your bill and people are using buy now pay later for groceries. You know that old-fashioned term Trump campaigned on.
You're going to think I'm making these up, so I'll include the number so you can look them up.
HR1 1761, the Donald J. Trump $250 Bill Act. This would force the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to print a $250 bill with Trump's picture. The good news here is that with the way Trump's economy is going, we aren't going to see a lot of these.
HR 3432, the TDS Research Act. It's exactly what you think it is. It would force the National Institutes of Health to conduct research on Trump Derangement Syndrome. That seems worthwhile as the US is about to lose its measles elimination status.
Remember when I said Republicans give the rich means and give the working-class memes?
Here's your meme. HR 1395. Trump's Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act. It would make Trump's birthday and Flag Day as a legal public holiday. Establishing an establishment billionaire's birthday as a holiday. Cool.
HR691. I'll just read you the text. The Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia shall after the date of the enactment of this act be known and designated as the Donald J. Trump International Airport. Much like his $250 bill, with the rising cost of airfare, at least not a lot of people will have to see the signage.
HR5766. The President Donald J. Trump Peace Prize Act. This would force State Department to award a Trump Peace Prize to somebody every year. But wait, there's more. The bill says, "First awardee, the Secretary shall confer the first Trump Peace Prize on President Donald Trump." I guess the soccer people peace prize wasn't enough.
Then my favorite, HR792. It would force the National Park Service to arrange for the carving of the figure of President Donald J. Trump on Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
Again, these are actual bills introduced during Trump's second term. You get memes while his friends and family get rich.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
