I think there is a difference between the male role models of the young MAGA cult followers and those of my generation. We had our parents, the Great Generation, who endured the Depression and fought Fascism, to look up to. We also had movie heroes like Spencer Tracy (e.g., “Bad Day at Black Rock”), Gary Cooper (e.g., “High Noon”), Humphrey Bogart (e.g., “Key Largo”), etc,. Those movie heroes were men who hated violence but behaved bravely when tested. Now we have a generation that looks up to bigots like Charlie Kirk. Somehow they think that makes them ‘men’. I think we are in an age of Decadence.
