What Poland Spring Doesn't Want You to Know - More Perfect Union

Poland Spring is raking in millions by bottling and selling Maine's water — and throwing their weight around in state politics to keep profits flowing. During a drought this year, they publicly said they were cutting back. But we found evidence they're pumping even more.

What about Evian???

Our story
Even though nature has been producing natural spring water since–forever–it took us a while to discover and begin bottling the evian natural spring water we all enjoy today.

the year our natural spring water source was discovered by a local French nobleman, the Marquis de Lessert, in the town of Évian-les-Bains. While out on a walk, he got thirsty and drank from what turned out to be far more than any ordinary spring. The Marquis found this particular water to be so ‘light and easily drinkable’ that he started drinking it regularly.>>>

First they said naturally carbonated and then admitted that they injected CO2 into water (from somewhere.)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perrier

Perrier's reputation for purity suffered a blow in 1990 when a laboratory in North Carolina in the United States found benzene, a carcinogen, in several bottles. Perrier stated that it was an isolated incident of a worker having made a mistake in filtering and that the spring itself was unpolluted. The incident ultimately led to the worldwide withdrawal of the product, with around 160 million bottles of Perrier being recalled.[12][13]

Two years later in 1992, Perrier was bought by Nestlé, one of the world's leading food and drink companies.[14] Nestlé had to contend with competition from the Agnelli family for ownership of the business.[15]

Coors? Rocky Mountain Spring Water - hah.

Water is big business and may eventually dry up unless you have enough money to take a sip.

"mineral water" is almost always local tap water. This is hardly breaking news.

Nestlé pays a minimal annual fee for these permits, around $200 but they pump up to 400 gallons of water per minute. Nestle sells water from the Great Lakes region shared by Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Canada.

Should have problems with naming and brand naming. One could hope that one would not want "ice" brand anything these days.
