Let's talk about British Defense posture and the future it sees.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there internet people. It's
Belle again.
So, today we're going to talk about
British defense posture and the future
it sees.
On the heels of the Danish assessment,
showing exactly how much Trump's chicken
and waffles foreign policy has damaged
the US standing in the world. Recent
developments in the UK provided another
glimpse of how weak the US is becoming
internationally.
Although the British weren't quite as
blunt in saying it, they simply talked
about what they had to do, which just so
happens to coincide with growing
weakness Trump has brought the US.
The key through line is countering
Putin. It's interesting that China
didn't fit much into British posturing,
which kind of gives even more weight to
the Danish assessment that creates a
scenario where China comes out on top
over the US because of the US surrender
of NATO leadership, causing European
nations to focus entirely on Russia.
The current British intelligence chief,
Bla1 Metroelli, said, quote, "The export
of chaos is a feature, not a bug, in the
Russian approach to international
engagement, and we should be ready for
this to continue until Putin is forced
to change his calculus."
Her background was on full display as
she spoke on MI6 capabilities.
She said the agency quote must be as
comfortable with lines of code as we are
with human sources, as fluent in Python
as we are in multiple languages.
Before becoming the top intel officer
for the UK, she occupied the position
that is most comparable to Q like from
James Bond.
On the high seas, the Navy boss said,
quote, "The advantage that we have
enjoyed in the Atlantic since the end of
the Cold War, the Second World War, is
at risk. We are holding on, but not by
much.
If the UK felt it could count on the US,
this wouldn't be a statement, and the
British Navy is planning on filling in
the gap US indecisiveness has caused."
quote, "There is no room for
complacency. Our wouldbe opponents are
investing billions. We have to step up
or we will lose that advantage. We
cannot let that happen."
UK Chief of Defense Staff Richard
Knighton is pointing out how Putin is
targeting civilian populations and that
quote, "The situation is more dangerous
than I have known during my career." And
the response requires more than simply
strengthening our armed forces. A new
era for defense doesn't just mean our
military and government stepping up, as
we are. It means our whole nation
stepping up.
It seems like there's a concerted effort
in the British military and intelligence
establishment to prepare their citizens
for the expense and annoyance that
accompanies another period of heightened
defense posture.
A framing that is starting to take shape
in the UK is that for a while the UK was
involved in wars of choice like helping
the US in the Middle East, but that now
it's at risk of having wars of necessity
thrust upon them.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have
a good day.
