Affordable Care Act subsidies that help more than 20 million Americans pay for health insurance are about to expire — and now even House Republicans are admitting there’s no real plan to stop it. A new GOP healthcare proposal does not extend ACA premium tax credits, despite the deadline hitting at the end of the year. California Republican Kevin Kiley publicly criticized Speaker Mike Johnson’s plan, calling it “hastily thrown together” and warning that families shouldn’t be punished for congressional inaction.
