All politics is local - attributed to Tip O'Neil

This is one of the areas I think get way too overlooked. I bought eggs today, $8 for a dozen, I see more and more people purchasing groceries with thier credit cards. Today I got a Zillow alert in one nieghborhood, over 270 homes for sale last month, only 15 sold. I expect prices to drop or foreclosures to increase. Nor is it in a wealthy, middile class, or desirable area.

Yes, what is happening in the world is important and should be addressed, but it should not be on the top of the news. Your average voter does not read political blogs, forums, etc. They vote or not vote, with their bank balance, that's the hard reality. Someone struggling to feed their family, make the mortgage, rent, etc. isn't too concerned about what is going on in Ukraine, Israel, China, Russia, etc. I think this is why the "America First" euphimism resonated, even though it wasn't true. Granted the aid we are giving is a drop in the bucket, but it still doesn't look good.

Long ago, when contract negotiations happened with a company and the union, us workers turned it down. Later our Business Agent showed up and explained why this was the best we could get at the time, it was the first time I ever seen, let alone meet him. And fairly sure it was many others.

We always talk about "messaging" but we don't dial down on what that is. Furthermore, you can't just hold a town hall and expect that will suffice. You need to show up to the corny festivals, talk to people, etc. Let them know how you are helping them and let them know how some legislation may sound good to their ears, but is actually detrimental to them.

America First should not have been thier motto, it should have been ours. So politicians need to get out there and say Joe/Jane Public is first, I'm working directly for you and your benefit. We sit there an scream at the national media, ignorance of the voter, etc. but in the end, we can't build a better tomorrow by finger pointing.

Well that's my two cents, flame away.
