7. I know what it means, and I know how the author is trying to use it

and oddly enough I would still prefer "neoliberal globalization" to "societal collapse" any day of the week. The author presumably lives a pretty comfortable "globalized" life if he can afford to think that way in the first place...

The most eye-opening part is when he blindly assumes there wouldn't also be a mass die-off of humanity with a societal collapse... Nevermind the fact that there's zero fucking guarantee that some magical utopia would emerge from it.

So let him go off the grid and live in some bunker or some abandoned school bus in Alaska -- Oh right, he doesn't want to give up HIS first world amenities, that's strictly for everybody else...
