Mike Waltz: I take"full responsibility" but Goldberg could've tricked his way into the chat & ELON will investigate

I wondered how soon they'd get around to blaming Jeffrey Goldberg.

I started checking news and Bluesky posts this evening and immediately ran into conflicting info on what Waltz was saying.

doesn't show how little reponsibility Waltz is taking till the third paragraph:

National security advisor Mike Waltz said he accepted “full responsibility” for a high-level Trump administration planning chat about strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen being accidentally shared with a top journalist from The Atlantic.

"I take full responsibility. I built the group," Waltz told Fox News’s Ingraham Angle on Tuesday. "It's embarrassing. We're going to get to the bottom of it."

Waltz went on to call Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who wrote a widely read article claiming Waltz added him to a Signal group discussing the strikes, was a “loser” who may have “deliberately” tricked someone in the administration into getting access to the chat.

I was looking for articles with more of what Waltz said and found the most quotes from that show in the NY Post, which I'm quoting only because the conspiracy theory he's setting up is dangerous and DUers should be aware of it.

“Have you ever had somebody’s contact that shows their name and then you have somebody else’s number there?” Waltz began.

“So, of course I didn’t see this loser in the group,” he continued, referring to Goldberg, who is viewed by many as an antagonist of Trump. “It looked like someone else.

“Now, whether he did it deliberately or it happened by some other technical means is something we’re trying to figure out.”

Waltz then told Ingraham, "I can tell you for 100% — I don’t know this guy." And he's desperate that people believe him because otherwise the most likely reason Waltz had contact info for Jeffrey Goldberg was that Waltz has leaked to the press in the past and has some contact info handy.
