As for practical, being from the same state make winning more difficult (assuming they would be counting on winning their home state). In the Electoral College, each elector casts a vote for POTUS and a vote for VP, but they can only vote for one person maximum from their own state. (12th Am)

So they would need to win the EC by a margin which makes those home state's votes not necessary.
