(1,889 posts)the sweetest kids yogurt for her daily snack.
She had heart problems and the nurses were giving her breathing treatments when the real problem was that she had ballooned 60lbs+ due to fluid overload.
After we insisted she be transferred to the hospital they diuresed her and upon returning the nurses were so surprised at how well she was doing but had no clue that the weight gain might have been a hint. Id mention more horror stories but you get the idea.
Worse yet we found out from a relatively young social worker that the doctor in charge of her care 1. had standing orders that none of his patients were to be sent to the hospital (so when we insisted the nurses were off the hook) and
2. He believed people come to a nursing home to die so why delay that process.
Ill be damned if that happens to me!!
