17. My perfect intersection of disillusionment and hope

We're going to have a quiet evening in the backyard, just the two of us and the animals, giving honor to typical Americans who embody courage, kindness and resilience over celebs, cable news hosts, and commercial sponsors.

It's not blind celebration, but acknowledgment of both the ideals and the failures we've accomplished together. She said, 'tink of it like lighting a sparkler for hope, not for what is, but for what can be.' So that's what we're doing- celebrating ideals, not reality.
