You may be liable for parents' costs [View all]

There are almost 30 states that have what are called Filial Responsibility Laws. That means that adult children may be responsible for medical costs, and sometimes other costs of their parents. They vary by state.

This site lists the state laws: https://trustandwill.com/learn/what-states-have-filial-responsibility

As Congress is preparing to cut Medicaid, these laws will kick in. Nursing homes and medical facilities will use the laws and sue the adult children.

If you live in one of these states, you may want to contact your MAGA siblings because they are likely assuming you will carry the burden!

These laws are seldom pursued. But if worried, you can move to Texas, Florida, Alabama, and a few others. Silent Type Jun 30 #4
