Accuse the accuser(s).
Vilify the accuser as someone who cannot be trusted to tell the truth.
Assert victimhood or gross unfairness.
The victim may even be accused of coming out ahead due to the crimes committed against them.
The accuser will be referred to as a terrorist, prisoner, prostitute, drug addict, or any other negative
image designations based on sex, class, ethnicity, age and more.
They may agree that the accusation was valid, but claim there was something wrong with the way it
was handled. They insist they would have supported the victim if only she had smiled more or he had
worn a suit or they had followed proper procedure.
The “why now” tactic claims that the accusation may be valid, but the accusers’ timing will aid
enemies, or it was in the past, and they have changed.
