Don’t know whether it’s democrats or their perceived constituency, but liberals don’t have any massive machine like the conservatives had in A.M. talk radio and Fox News.

MSNBC and Air America were weak sauce in comparison.

Right wing America has been mainlining fear and xenophobia and misogyny since sometime in the mid eighties. Something in their reptile brain is tailor made to respond to that.

Our appeals to decency don’t penetrate their shell nor do they really energize our base. Obama was the exception, but just the fact of who he was broke a ton of right wing minds and in so doing fed fuel to their fire.

The conservatives I still deal with (for reasons I don’t want to list) just keep spouting inane talking points like it’s a mantra that will make me go away.

Guess what? It works. Because I’d have to stand up and call them a liar to their face. The truth is that their side is/has been much more effective at getting the message out. Our side sucks at it.
