1984 really put the zap on my adolescent mind. Even then, I was beginning to recognize the dangers of totalitarianism that deconstructs history itself and brainwashes the unwary to make them believe absurdities and proceed to commit atrocities. I would credit Voltaire, but I’ve heard that is incorrect.
