In reply to the discussion: If the Democrats actually won the presidential elections in 2016 and 2024 [View all]KPN
(16,874 posts)40. I don't agree. I've had angst about the direction of this country economic policy-wise for over four decades now, and
that includes angst about the role and effectiveness of our party over most of that time-frame. I know that I am not alone, and the number of those sharing this particular angst has grown with each generation. My angst will be lifted when we secure both free, fair and legitimate "representative" elections, and real results on the economic front that strengthen the middle class and end the relentless aggregation of wealth away from those in the lower 80-90% of our population. That will take new and tougher leadership in my view. Those with their hands on the controls of our party have not produced on the economic front ... and economics affects us all. The dollar is a common denominator as they say.

Hillary did not get 7 million more votes than Trump in 2016. She won the popular vote by around 2.87 million.

It got closer, BUT in Clinton's favour, as the CA totals finally came in. She was never 7 million up in the popular vote

And if, as those of us in the reality based community know, Dems indeed lost in 2016 and 2024?

I don't believe the 2024 election was stolen, but Harris was an outstanding candidate & ran an almost flawless campaign,

There's a lot of shame to go around... especially with the saboteurs encouraging the "Uncommitted Movement" *

Why would someone rig a handful of small precincts in a state that Harris would win easily?

Harris was such an outstanding candidate that I was 100% certain that she would crush the crazy perv.

There is nothing productive in embracing Trump-style election denialism and similarly delusional conspiracy theories.

So you think Democratic leaders should intentionally spread false conspiracy theories to rile people up?

This actually raises an interesting question of how Democrats *should* respond to GOP messaging psyops

You might be right. I used to think left-leaning voters wouldn't be quite as responsive to lies and manipulation

How? What power did Al Gore have to overrule the Supreme Court? Or even Bill Clinton as President at the time? There

If Harris would have garnered the same women's vote that Biden did she would have won.

It is time to demand UN observers. We insisted on this with other countries in the 70's and 80's
