(7,165 posts)and it's actually been in the news more and more now, I just blanked on writing it all out. It's the New Apostolic Reformation. These people used to be known as The Dominionists. If you've heard talk about the "7 Mountains" THIS is the group that's been trying to gain power and control in these seven aspects of American life. They really don't fall completely under the Evangelical tent, nor do they fall completely under the Charismatic tent (and they're certainly NOT mainline!). But they do share elements with each of the fringe belief systems. They're dangerous as hell. They ascribe to, and fully believe that anything they do in furtherance of their cause (creating an American Christian Theocracy) is 100% okay and totally forgiven beforehand... as long as they preface it with "I do this is the Lord's name." That includes lying, cheating, adultery and other sexual escapades, even murder. They believe once they capture the 7 Mountains of American life (or 7 Hills as it's sometimes called) then THEY will be bringing on the 2nd coming of Christ. But these people are the farthest from Christ's teachings as you can get. Even worse that Evangelical and Charismatic groups trying to rig the environment and wars around Israel, thinking they could then go to the Promised Land, convert all the Jews, and then THEY will bring on the 2nd coming.
You could say we've got two groups - one working domestically and one working overseas - to bring on their own version of the Apocalypse. I could do an entire article on these two... especially the Dominionists... and have, in the past. They scare the crap out of me because they actually believe... truly, deeply believe in burning the world down to bring what THEY think is "heaven on earth." My family's church was once a part of this, but schismed decades ago when the original church got too extremist and crazy.
Although I'm no longer Christian, I was raised deeply in the faith, and have generations of multiple preachers throughout my Mom's side of the family. All of them have been what I would deem "Charismatics." After going through all that, I ended up Pagan. (shrug)
Sorry if I gave you more than you could ever want to know!
