Gov. Tim Walz said he has issued a warning to prepare the Minnesota National Guard for a potential deployment following the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
“We have soldiers in training and prepared to be deployed if necessary,” Walz said, stressing that those troops are “our National Guard troops.”
“They are teachers in your community, they’re business owners, they’re construction professionals, they are Minnesotans,” Walz said. “Minnesota will not allow our community to be used as a prop in a national political fight. We will not take the bait.”
