3. This fiasco is another example of why RealID is bad.

As near as I can tell - her birth documents don't match her current name - and she doesn't have intervening documents changing her name, because she didn't actually change her name - the original documents were incomplete/incorrect (apparently because her parents had two different last names). The discrepancies appear to be related to language difficulties. They don't say it directly, but her parents may not have been citizens (articles do report that she has dual citizenship). They had to try to piece together proof of birth in the US by hospital birth records (also with name discrepancies) and immunization records. She spent most of her life in Mexico.

Not excusing this at all - but this is similar to the challenge that many will face trying to get a RealID to vote when original documents are missing or don't match the name that someone has been using all their life.
