6. IMHO, the "Party" is secondary, almost collateral damage

Massie is right that you can define the principles represented by every key player (all the Cabinet Secretaries, plus Miller, Bannon, Musk, Bezos, Theil, Leo, the corrupt SCOTUS and the others driving the agenda) with one adjective: "Epsteinish".

That is to say, completely lawless, no loyalty to anybody, more comfortable with dictators than democracies, insanely obsessed with power and money, and unable to control the most basic impulses, particularly sex, even when it comes to raping children.

The GOP became an empty vessel that Trump was able to take over. Almost no Republicans were happy with that, but they were all cowards in the face of a world-class bully. We gave them multiple opportunity to stop all of this, and even then they couldn't gather enough courage to do anything.
