On Tuesday night, the president used his State of the Union speech to ratchet up pressure on Thune to find a way to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Democrats vow to block it, saying the measure could prevent or deter millions of legitimate voters from casting ballots.
Congress should unite and enact this common sense, country-saving legislation right now and it should be before anything else happens, Trump said.
