8. Cuba regime change unintended consequences
Mon Mar 2, 2026, 09:57 AM
Yesterday

IThe forced overthrow of the Havana government will have consequences that neither Orange Julius and his court nor the Cuban emigres dreaming away in Florida and other places have thought about.

Power flows into vacuums. That’s the way things are. A post-Marxist Cuban government imposed by the US is likely to find itself facing serious competition from the crime cartels that have spread out of Mexico and Colombia into Central and South America, especially a government lacking legitimacy in the eyes of the Cubans actually living on the island. They’ll not only be bringing in money, they’ll be bringing in firearms and explosives, with a level of organization exceeding the influence the Mob had back in the days of Batista (And back before most of the emigres were even born).

To any right-wingers out there reading this, this isn’t me being a “liberal”: this is me being a realist, the sort of realist that Buckaroo Bush and then Donald John ran out of the government and replaced with hacks and clowns—the sorts of realists who were proved right.
