Supreme Court [View all]

The latest SCOTUS ruling has created way more backlash than Republicans thought it would, especially after Louisiana is trying to stop it's already in progress election just to be able to wipe out the only two Black majority districts in the state.

In my humble opinion, Democrats need to get out ahead of this and make it a key priority in their election stump speeches that if the Democratic Party end up controlling both the House and the Senate they will reform SCOTUS to include the following:
1) Expand the Court to thirteen seats (one for each circuit)
2) oversight of each circuit is done for 5 years then they must rotate
3) 25 year term limit
4) create a new quasi-Independent agency named "The Office of the Inspector General for Judicial Review" the head must be a federal judge or federal prosecutor at the time of appointment but would resign that position if Senate confirmed, with at least 10 years of experience and in good standing with the BAR and is appointed by the president and Senate confirmed for a term of 10 years.
One deputy with the same standards. All others that would work for this agency are career staff that only report to the IG or deputy.
They would be empowered to oversee all ethical concerns for all federal judges, including SCOTUS. They would have investigative and subpoena power and be required to report to a bipartisan special joint committee on judicial reviews and it would be this committee that would recommend judges for censure or up to impeachment to the full House and Senate if necessary. They will have full, uninhibited access to all federal judges financial and investment information 24/7.

That's my two cents. I cannot make it clear enough that judicial reform is going to be a key issue for many Democrats and we need to do something and we need to follow up our words with real change. It's very likely that Mango Mussolini is going to get to pick an additional three justices before the end of his term and we cannot allow this to continue.
