Words and deeds. [View all]

I urge people to consider the life and words of Lyndon Johnson and Robert Byrd as examples of people who have said and believed terrible, awful, gross things but have done a lot of good for the cause of justice.

It is difficult to read some of President Johnson's statements regarding black people. Knowing what he accomplished, and how it is now something we need to fight for, I hope it keeps in perspective how current Democratic candidates can rise to the occassion.

Perhaps even exceed our wildest expectations.

Have grace.
