2. They deny care that is needed, insist on delays, but also they waste of time of doctors and patients

Doctors need to organize and fight back, but they are 1) busy with patients and stupid claim fights and 2) naturally lean toward excelling while working within the system, not likely to fight the system. You can’t become an MD without being highly motivated to achieve within the long system of competitive schools, undergrad, MCAT, med school and residency. The younger ones have big debt, AND they are on the payroll of companies that don’t allow public statements to be made.It is shocking how few doctors speak frankly about the intense interference of insurance companies with anything like anger; it is mostly tuned down to a feeling of resignation and sublimated frustration.

Meanwhile the industry keeps trying to get its pound of flesh in new ways. A relative tried Hinge Health, then found out that every time he just CLICKS on the app, it charges the company or the insurer $50. FIFTY dollars. Wow. Seems plausible that the plan is to delay surgery until after he is off of their insurance plan. Care delayed is often care avoided, for the insurer, because the patient dies or loses their job and their insurance.
