9. I'm no lover of Disney

My family have been in Central Florida since before the Civil War.

I was born in eastern Polk County in 1947. Prior to Disney Central Florida was a paradise in a lot of ways.

For instance, both Tampa and Orlando were quiet comfortable low crime uncongested cities to live in. Most of the economy was ranching, and citrus. Sparse population.

I can remember when I-4 first opened. You could literally drive for miles without seeing another vehicle. At the intersection of I-4 and Hwy 27 there was only one two pump gas station.

Disney ruined the Old Florida. Brought in millions of people, destroyed the ecology of the area. Caused the depletion of the Floridan Aquifer. Brought in crime.

In addition to destroying a state they sure as hell destroyed Star Wars.

I suspect that if Walt was alive today he would not be pleased at what he created in Central Florida.
