"Conspicuous Consumption" is a well-known, even common, expression. Wives as showpieces is as old a concept as mythology. Richard Burton didn't buy those diamonds for Sibyll, now did he?

Secondly, what Mother Jones apparently does not know is that, while some women dress to impress other women in their milieu, MANY women style themselves, from hair to shoes, FOR THEIR MEN.

IOW, LSB DRESSES FOR JEFF. And if Jeff Bezos likes tacky, tight, and low-cut, by gum that's what Lauren will wear.

It really isn't rocket surgery.
