It is morally wrong.

If you do that, you are a bad person doing a bad thing.

Yes, I am judging you and saying that, yes, you have done wrong, you have hurt someone.

And to any who reply "but my kid turned out fine, so there" I will say that purposely exposing a child to a hazard, an avoidable hazard, of increased chances of irreversible injury, disability, and death is a harm. You are not clairvoyant and did not know what the ultimate clinical outcome would be, yet you chose the path of hazard for a child. Not your own hazard, hazard for a dependent child. Shame on you.
