It's long been my theory that there wasn't ever an actual war, but since the government controlled everything they could have easily just said there was one and the people would have accepted it. One day the Oceanians and Eastasians are at war against the Eurasians, and the next the Oceanians and Eurasians are allies in a war against the Eastasians? Naah dude, that ain't how it works...and you'd think that EVENTUALLY the Eastasians and Eurasians would get pissed off enough at the Oceanians for playing them so long and join together to fight the fucking Oceanians.
