anyone who opposed him after he officially declared himself dictator. He was going to go after Democrats next. Maybe he’s figured out he’s not going to live long enough now to enjoy an extended dictatorship and all his new prisons. For example, if he’s been told he’s slowly dying from congestive heart failure (which I think is most likely) that would take all the fun out of it for him.
