Okay, so one thing I didn't have a chance to mention earlier was that Alito offered an off-the-cuff response to Sotomayor's dissent, which is highly unusual.

I didn't get the exact wording, but he said something along the lines of there was "much that I would have added" to his statement from the bench.

And makes it more and more obvious that they should allow live audio feed during opinion announcements. Maybe THAT will be a summer project for the Chief.

He noted that the policy was used "by two different administrations as a way of dealing with surges" in "an orderly and humane manner."

This is what passes for high drama at SCOTUS! (I was hoping it was more excitinglike during Sotomayor's reading from her dissent, he started coughing into his microphone while muttering "bulls**t."

Lots to read and try to digest before getting on public media. In the Bay Area, I'll be on KCBS at 9:20am. So less than two hours to read or scan .... how many total pages?

The wording may not have been exact, because I was scribbling them on my copy of Wolford while I waited for him to announce the next opinion, but it's pretty darned close.

So I would guess we have two more opinion days. One on Monday and then likely Tuesday (since things typically end before July) -- but I know Rory thinks this may stretch into next month...

So to summarize before I sign off, we are done for the day. We will get opinions on Monday, and we will have at least one more day after that.

Ha! I have high expectations when Alito goes "off the cuff"like when he (in)famously mouthed "not true" during one of Obama's State of the Unions (and I don't think he has attended a SOTU since).

You are more likely right Zach. But the symbolism of releasing Birthright citizenship the day before our national holiday weekend, would also be high, even inspiring, drama!

So just to recap, the cases the justices decided this morning were Monsanto (preemption), Mullin v. Doe (Temporary Protected Status), Mullin v. Al Otro Lado (immigration lawwhat does it mean to arrive in United States), Wolford v. Lopez (Hawaii gun law). Next hand-down day will be Monday (not tomorrow).
