Activist group holds town hall meeting since U.S. reps haven't [View all]

MONTGOMERY -- Dawn Owens showed up to the town hall because she’s worried about what might happen to her preschool students on welfare if the Affordable Care Act is repealed and replaced. Samarria Dunson showed up because she’s worried about how some of President Trump’s policies may affect her children.

It's who wasn't there that prompted Together Montgomery, a group formed shortly after the presidential election, to organize the meeting Thursday.

About 50 gathered at The Sanctuary to discuss politics and policy because no local U.S. representative has held a town hall meeting since the new administration started.

Together Montgomery held a similar meeting in February, which they filmed and sent to U.S. Reps. Martha Roby, Mike Rogers and Terri Sewell.
