A note about issues with YouTube videos on DU this evening (UPDATED WEDNESDAY MORNING)

Wednesday morning update:

It seems that the issue was not related to the changes we made -- the videos returned to normal without us having to do anything, so this time it looks like the problem was a glitch at YouTube's end, and nothing to do with us. This is actually good news, because so far it seems the changes we made aren't causing any issues, and the YouTube problem was just coincidental.

Thanks again for putting up with these recent tech difficulties. We expect to be working through them for a little bit longer, but we'll have news on our progress very soon.

Hello all,

Earlier today we made some changes behind the scenes in an effort to alleviate the server issues we've been having recently. One of the changes had the potential to cause certain problems, although we couldn't be sure exactly what might happen. What seems to have happened, however, is that YouTube videos are now showing up as just a black box.

We should be able to get the videos back to normal tomorrow (Wednesday), but in the meantime, my apologies. The good news is that we did also make some significant positive progress today on the server issues -- I'll have more news to post about that soon.
