They mention that she was staying at the hotel with her husband and two young children. Who signs up for a random tryst in that situation? Nobody. It's pretty clear from the story that he drugged her, raped her, and then paid her off. I'm sure they still have the rape kit, too, which is why he doesn't deny the sex itself.
