The majority of human trafficking takes place domestically and by family members. Additionally, the majority of remaining trafficking takes place in partnership with domestic actors, and then the majority of "customers" are domestic. However, I know from speaking with task force agents that they aren't permitted to prioritize women (and men) who are sex trafficked but prioritize labor trafficking (because that takes jobs from kids I guess.) So, despite the emotional exploitation of the issue by politicians and others, it really isn't that important to most of them.
